pvLiveStream
The remote-controlled encoding tool for live
camera feeds
Remote
control encoding of your analog camera feed!
Remote-controlled encoding allows you to manage
the encoding at a camera without travelling
to it.
Input
a live, analog camera feed and/or microphone
feed
Output MPEG-4 video and GSM-AMR audio
Many
networks: Encode for GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, 1XRTT,
EVDO, EVDV and WiFi networks.
Many devices: Encode for Fujitsu, HP,
HTC, Mitsubishi, Motorola, NEC, Nokia, Samsung,
Siemens, SonyEricsson, Toshiba and other device
manufacturers. |

| Benefits |
 |
 |
- Reduces the ongoing operation costs by eliminating
costly travel to the camera sites.
- Eliminates the display and keyboard at the
camera site reducing cost and increasing reliability.
- Reduces the monthly fee of the transmission
bandwidth between camera and server by decreasing
the bandwidth requirements via highly-efficient
standard, 3GPP MPEG-4 encoding.
- Interfaces with the same remote management
system as pvServer, providing a single maintenance
interface which decreases training costs and
reduces the probability of errors.
- Allows the operator to tailor the management
capabilities to suit every situation.

| Features |
 |
 |
- Compatible with many camera formats: any
input from a PAL and NTSC camera devices
- Compatible with many audio inputs: any input
from a Direct-Show-compatible microphone
- Video encode into standard MPEG-4 format
using Base and Enhancement layers which support
pvNS's FrameTrack. One video clip can be used
at different bit rates, to different devices
for optimal video quality for each customer.
- Audio encode in GSM-AMR with only one encode
pass.
- Data rates from 9.6 kbps to 1 Mbps. Processing
limitations may apply.
- Multiple frame rates from less than 1 fps
to 30 fps. Hardware processing limitations
may apply.
- Meta Fields are provided for the capture
of metadata: Title, Copyright, Author, Rating
and Description. Any information desired can
be entered into these fields.
- Complete remote capability including the
ability to start, stop and configure all parameters
remotely.
- pvConnect output protocol providing compatibility
with pvServer.
- Configuration files are used to allow easy
and remote setting of all parameters. The
same parameters are available in pvLiveStream
as in pvAuthor's live video streaming so that
the user can accurately control the encoding.
A different configuration based on the type
of content that is being encoded (e.g., sports,
live cam, news, etc.) as well as the characteristics
of different wireless networks can be created.
- Users can also remotely set each parameter
without changing the configuration file.
- Easy debugging using remote controlled local
logging. Network manager can remotely pull
the log file via pvServer's Local Content
Manager.
- Easy remote management allowing health checks,
all integrated into the pvServer Local System
Manager. One user interface provides management
of pvServer as well as all pvLiveStream applications.
- Selected services do not require a user
to login to initiate, and they stay up over
login/logout sessions
- Services can be set to start automatically
regardless of user login.
- Remotely configure the behavior if the service
fails: restart or reboot
- Service parameters can be stored in a registry
or read in from a configuration file.
- OS will inform the service when the registry
parameters have changed.
- One user interface provides management of
pvServer as well as all pvLiveStream applications
for low total cost of maintenance.
- Better video quality: Better use of bit
allocation for maximal coding efficiency thus
improving both subjective and objective quality
of the video, while still maintaining full
3GPP standards compliance.
