SingTel selects Alcatel to offer video streaming over 3G
to enhance its innovative 3loGy offering

Barcelona, February 13, 2006 — Alcatel (Paris: CGEP.PA and NYSE: ALA) today announced that Singapore Telecommunications (SingTel), Southeast Asia's largest operator, has selected Alcatel to offer video streaming and television over 3G. As part of SingTel's 3loGy offering, subscribers to SingTel's 3G service are able to view breaking news-on-demand, entertainment programmes, music videos and more on their 3G-enabled mobile phones and devices.

A single call to the service allows users to navigate through SingTel's 3loGy offering of innovative content including blockbuster movie trailers and booking functions, and even live traffic webcasts. Subscribers have access to exclusive content including the latest Taiwanese idol dramas, TV variety shows and CNBC Asia Mobile. This service is based on the Alcatel 8855 Multimedia Browser and Video Streaming Controller and uses Dual Tone Multi Frequency (DTMF) for the user to browse through the offerings.

"SingTel continually strives to create and deliver innovative solutions that enhance the mobile infotainment experience for our customers, based on their lifestyle and life space needs. Entering into the partnership with Alcatel to roll out 3G TV fits perfectly into our 3loGy offering that allows users to receive video calls, video streaming and high-speed Internet access for true mobility and truly engaging entertainment." said Thomas Yeo, Vice President, Consumer Marketing, SingTel.

"Alcatel is a long time partner of SingTel, having been involved in a number of revolutionary service launches such as ADSL back in the early 90s. SingTel's innovative 3G TV and video portal will strike a chord in a market that is craving for more than voice services, and Alcatel will continue to work with SingTel to introduce more applications," said Marc Rouanne, Chief operating officer of Alcatel's mobile communications activities. "This cooperation underlines Alcatel's status as a leading-edge technology enabler for advanced mobile music, video and TV services."

Alcatel's advanced music and video solutions have already been adopted by more than 80 mobile operators in Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America to enable their mobile video, music and live TV services.
